Jarvis Shard Update!

The Jarvis Shards really are a moving target, so this post won't be accurate for too long. There are some interesting things happening with the game because of the Shards.

Shard #1

This is the only shard that is even on the correct continent and currently capable of reaching either faction's goal portal. Shard #1 went live near New York City and the Resistance has done a great job moving it down the East coast of the United States and into Central America. It is currently stopped in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It has been bouncing around in Central America for a few days and is currently owned by the Enlightened.

Shard #2

Currently, Shard #2 is posted up at Happisburgh lighthouse in England. The Resistance have built the Portal to level eight and heavily fields the surrounding areas. Almost certaintly they are getting ready to move it a very long way.

Shard #3

The Enlightened control Shard #3, the area is well held and fielded much like Shard #2. The difference though, the highest level Portal in the area is level five! It appears Tamil Naud, India does not have a lot of players in this area and the Shard is boxed in by Enlightened links. Without some clever use of ADA Refactors or a motivated Resistance player, it doesn't look like Shard #3 will be moving out of the area anytime soon.

Shard #4

The controversy around Shard #4 is interesting. Both factions recognize that the Shard was moved to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia by spoofers. To make a point and raise awareness of the worldwide spoofing issue within Ingress, representatives from Enlightened and Resistance factions have agreed to hold Shard #4 in Kota Kinabalu. Agents from both factions have surrounded the Shard with multiple fields to prevent anybody from moving it. You can read more about the controversy over Shard #4 in a post by +Reuben Yap, the post has an Englightened and Resistance statement about the issue.

Jarvis Shard #4

Shard #5

At the time of writing this, the Resistance controlled Shard #5 in Anapa, Russia. Much like Shard #3, this Shard is hosted by a low level portal. It is well built and linked around, it will be interesting to see where it goes.

I'm sure by now all the Shards have moved, but it is interesting to see how the local agents at each location are dealing with them. Once a significant amount of Very Rare Link Amps are hacked, it will be interesting to see how these Shards begin to move towards the goal Portals. As of now, it does not look like either faction has a plan that will win them this competition.

There are 13 total Shards, so eight more are on their way! Stay vigilant Agents!
